Special duties on import cars will reach a point of 12,95%.

On April 28 last year the interdepartmental commission on international trade made the decision on introduction of additional special duty on import cars. This decision was made by results of the investigation initiated by the Ukrainian car makers – "ZAZ", "Evrokar" and "Bogdan Motors". By the commission’s declares, for the last 3 years import of cars to our country significantly increased, thereby undermining production of a domestic product. For protection of national interests, the decision about introduction of special protective measures concerning import cars with an internal combustion engine with spark ignition and with a working volume of cylinders from 1000 cm3 to 2200 cm3 was obvious.

The authorities didn’t hurry to extend information about this decision. But already on March 14, 2013 in the newspaper "Uryadovyj kyr’er" the decision on introduction additional of special duty on import cars was published. By the legislation the decision will come into force in 30 days from the date of its publication. Namely since April 13, 2013 additional duty for import of the new cars which size depends on engine displacement is entered to already existing duty. On the car with the engine from 1000 cm3 to 1500 cm3 - duty will make 6,46%, the petrol engine from 1500 cm3 to 2200 cm3 - 12.95%. Till April 13, 2013 duty on import of cars from Europe, America and Asia makes 10%, and 0% from CIS countries, on condition of enclosed in the cost not less than 50% of cost of local components and work. Additional duty affects cars from all countries, including the Russian and Uzbek which were assessed earlier with zero duty.
